Canada Court Says Group Sex is A-Okay

Posted on | December 22, 2005

Props to the Canadian Supreme Court for striking down a ban on group sex and swinger clubs yesterday. A seven-to-two majority ruled that “Consensual conduct behind code-locked doors can hardly be supposed to jeopardize a society as vigorous and tolerant as Canadian society.” In addition, the court also set an excellent standard for determining the criminality of sexuality by simply thating that in order to be illegal, an indecent act must be proven to “interfere with the proper functioning of society.” Obviously private sex does not meet that standard. What I find funny though is that MSNBC.Com has a Live Vote to go along with the story which asks the question “Do you think group sex in private clubs, as described in this article, is a threat to society?” As of this writing, 77,107 people had responded of which 22,300 answered that it was a threat to society. I imagine that if polled, the bulk of those individuals who voted that group sex is a threat to society will probably claim some sort of religious or moral reasoning behind it.

Sexual morality has always been an interest of mine. I absolutely love listening to people talk about why they feel certain sex acts or paraphilias are wrong. The more Victorian they are about sex, the more entertaining it is for me because these people often obsess about what other people are doing behind closed doors that does not concern them in the least bit. I just do not get how these individuals can get so worked up over it. It is like an orgy happens in Los Angeles and somewhere in Oklahoma a conservative Christian feels pain as a result.

My view is you should not worry about those who have more open sexuality and involve things like group sex. It is the ones with the most repressed sexuality that you need to watch out for. But they are good for sex therapists though. One of the sex therapists I know happens to say “When sex is associated with anger, guilt, or shame it is very good for my business.” and that is so true.

“and somewhere in Oklahoma a conservative Christian feels pain as a result.”
That is because the Bible which is a historical book of truth teaches that sex outside of marriage is wrong & has several passages that homosexuality is wrong & is punished. In the Bible areas that were strong in practices of idle worship, homosexuality, & other sins were judged upon by the wrath of God. You may not share those beliefs & are free to believe as you may. But Christians have a right to believe their own & this life on earth is only but a second. We will all face death & answer to what really is the truth of afterlife, given that we believe what we decide upon.

Nice sermon. Christians do have a right to believe what they want. However you neglect to consider that a) Christianity is not a universal religion and b) no matter how morally superior you think you are, you still lack the justification to force those morals on other individuals.

I am a firm believer in the notion that religion is the number one cause for human misery throughout the entire life of humans when they emerged as a species.
