Everybody Come On Let’s Get G-A-Y!

I discovered the blog Good As You during the 2005 Weblog Awards when it was nominated as one of the best LGBT Blogs. After reading a few posts I was hooked and immediately added the RSS feed to my bookmarks. The guy responsible for the blog, Jeremy Hooper, is fucking funny. This blog is easily one of my favorites and I love reading the material.
Recently, PBS featured Jeremy on their program “In the Life”. It focused specifically on his work as a blogger and shows us some of the shittiness in his relationship with his family. Even though I was watching a video file, provided by The Malcontent, I still felt uncomfortable watching him talk on the phone to his mother.
Jeremy’s site is definitely a must-bookmark one. Every time I visit it or read the RSS feed, I cannot help but get Geri Halliwell in my head going “Everybody come on let’s get G.A.Y.!” Of course that is where I first heard that G.A.Y. meant ‘Good As You’.

Hey guys, Jeremy here..Thanks for the kind words. The whole time I was filming the piece I was really nervous about how it would all turn out (esp. b/c it was so personal), but I love it. I appreciate the outpouring of support and hope I can return the favor!

I’m fairly sure my mother has/will see it. She is aware of Good As You and tends to Google me frequently.

One question I have for you Jeremy is where do you get your inspiration for this stuff? I imagine some just easily rolls out like the Exorcist parody that was featured in the segment, but where else do you go for ideas?

My very bizarre, slightly off-kilter mind is my inspiration. That, coupled with my extremely happy, normal, non-society destroying life makes churning out this stuff on an hourly basis the thing of ease.
