It’s Witchcraft

Posted on | January 5, 2006

I thought this was worth posting because the whole case seems a little odd to me. Ten years ago hairdresser Russell Marsom went to Cambrige for a night out at a gay club. The 29 year-old’s body was later found in a ditch and cause of death was drowning. However evidence at the scene pointed to Russell not being alone when he died and lead to suggestions that his death was the result of a “witchcraft ritual gone wrong”.

One of the comments on Wren’s Nest from Liz who is from England notes that rural UK was pretty homophobic so it seems more logical that this was a hate crime before assume the involvment of witchcraft.

I’m English, now in Seattle. Rural England is still pretty Pagan. There are a lot of ‘witches’ there. And I’m not talking wicca, I’m talking historic, with family lines back hundreds of years, and some real authenticity.
Very few English people I know are homophobic, certainly not to that degree!
I’d go with the witch thing if I had to put money on it. There’s a big gay pagan scene. Though, they do tend more towards Wicca.
