Somebody Buy Michelle Malkin a Clue

Posted on | January 10, 2006

Michelle Malkin really needs to get a clue. In one of her latest posts she shows us her Coulter-like penchant for not checking her facts. In the post "A Democrat Spying Program", she tells of how readers informed her of Democrats.Com is trying to get people to buy the cell phone records from companies that managed to get the records from providers like Cingular. Basically you pay the service and you can get the phone records of anyone.

Michelle paints the move as some petty retaliation for "King" George W. Bush’s illegal spying program. Of course she neglects the potential national security problems services mention in the Chicago Sun-Times article she links to which exposed the practice. But apparently she did not actually read the article because she seems to be missing several key problems. In a test with the Sun-Times, the FBI was able to anonymously obtain the phone records of an agent within three hours. Apparently it does not bother Michelle that these so-called al Qaeda agents in the US have access to the phone records of the FBI and such by just paying a small fee. To quote the Spokesman for the Chicago field office:

"Not only in Chicago, but nationwide, the FBI notified its field offices of this potential threat to the security of our agents, and especially our undercover agents."

Michelle then asks the rhetorical questions about where is the ACLU in all of this and where is Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY). Well Michelle, I have not heard anything about the ACLU, but Schumer has called for legislation making the practice illegal. Malkin also neglects to mention that the Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) filed a petition with the FCC on the practice of selling phone records way back in July. The Washington Post wrote an article on it back then too.

Since Republicans control the ability to plug this major threat to personal privacy and national security, the procurement of Republicans’ phone records serves to prod them into action. Maybe someone ought to buy her phone records and post them online to illustrate the point to her. Looking at her Trackbacks, her readers are missing the point too.

Her memory and word choices are selective and used to portray her point of view only.
The republicans control both houses of congress, so why is she asking a democrat to try and get a bill through?

She is such a sad, narrow minded little person.

She’s a good represenative for the conservatives. Small-minded, inaccuarte and completely self absorbed. She’s never had much credibility with the right or the left, let her blog away!!
