Everbody’s a Little Bit Racist, But Michelle’s a Little Bit More

According to Michelle Malkin, every American citizen is an agent of Homeland Security. I cannot argue with that statement since security is only as good as its weakest link. However in one of her blog postings yesterday she explicitly states that we need to be racist in our vigilance. Malkin points to a recent instance where a cashier at Target/Wal-Mart called the FBI because a group of Arab individuals wanted to purchase a large quantity of pay-as-you-go cell phones which are untraceable and have been used as detonators on bombs. Now I am not saying one should not call in anything suspicious, but however let us take a look at Malkin’s statement:

It’s the busy Christmas season. A half-dozen men of Middle Eastern/South Asian descent walk into the store. They want to buy between 60-150 disposable cell phones–you know, the kind that can’t be traced. The kind that have been used by terrorists as detonators.

So what is Michelle saying? That if these men were Latino, White, Native American, Indian or East Asian (Chinese, Japanese, or Korean) it is not suspicious? That these races would not pose a threat making an identical purchase whereas Arabs would? If they were Black she probably would have pegged them as gang members or drug dealers. I hate to tell you this Michelle but in spite of your claims to the contrary, that’s racist.

The bottom line is that unless you happen to be Lwaxana Troi, Daughter of the Fifth House, Holder of the Sacred Chalice of Riix, Heir to the Holy Rings of Betazed, you do not know for sure what they are going to do with those phones. In fact, the ABC news article she links to mentions that a lot of these phones end up being shipped over seas and sold for legitimate reasons or given to friends/relatives there. Simply being Arab should not make them instant possible terrorists, But I guess in her reactionary way, Malkin fancies herself a super hero that will save us from the grips of Political Correctness and so forth. Maybe she can use this for her theme song.
