Some Republicans Need a Refresher Course in Government - Take Two

You would think that some of these conservatives would get it after a while but apparently that is too much to hope for. According to KUTV in Salt Lake City, State Senator Chris Buttars is still in the process of getting legislation that would ban gay clubs in schools. While he has not released the bill to the public yet, he makes a claim that it will pass a constitutional challenge or so two lawyers say. I hope those two lawyers were with the ACLU because that is exactly who will be suing to strike it down and they have a few victories under their belt on this particular issue.
Of course Buttars has to play the morality card too. According to him:
"Their definition of morality is to have no morality."
I absolutely love the morality card being played. Why? Because it just helps prove how stupid these people are. They have no idea what morality is outside the confines of what has been dictated to them by a book which they mindlessly accept. He has no clue about what goes on in the homes of gay and lesbian individuals. He has no idea how they were raised by their parents, how they raise children of their own. Once again we have someone pontificating "fact" on a subject in which they know nothing about.
During his speech to the Utah Eagle Forum, Buttars has a lovely little synaptic misfire and makes a connection that any club with a gay/lesbian focus will discuss sex instead of other things like coping with a bigoted society, coming out to ones parents, and other such issues that are unique to the LGBT experience.
As it has been pointed out before, Buttars’ legislation would run contrary to a federal bill passed over a decade ago which was co-sponsored by US Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT) which requires schools to have an "all or nothing" approach to extra-curricular activities. The law was designed to protect religious clubs. Buttars says his law empower school districts who face lawsuits because of a 1994 state law on the matter. Of course if Buttars had paid attention to his government classes in high school he would realize that Utah can have any law they want but if it runs contrary to any federal law or the US Constitution it is null and void.
Of course I could be all wrong about Buttars’ apparent stupidity. He could also just be manipulating the people to ensure their votes like Republicans have been doing these past election cycles. But one thing is for certain and I hope old-school Republicans take notice of him and others. Any old-school Republican who bitches about "big government" and monetarily wasteful Democrats need to look to their own house and clean it first.

Buttars is and idiot and I am a conservative Republican saying that. He does this every year to get his name on the papers and to push his personal vendettas–funny thing is that he has to use big government to do it.
I’m not pro gay by any means, but Buttars makes those of us on the “other side” look bad.
