Ohio Senate Candidate Calls Them As He Sees Them

Posted on | January 18, 2006

Looks like we have our second Democrat with balls (and both are quite attractive men too ;)). Yesterday Ohio US Senate candidate Paul Hackett, one of the "Fighting Dems", denounced the GOP as being hijacked by religious fanatics and that amendments to any state or the US Constitution was un-american. Naturally the Republicans are upset because someone called it as it is. The GOP has been hijacked by religious fanatics and everyone knows it. Take a look around the country and you will see plenty of examples and they have been engaging in some very un-American activities lately and they show no signs of slowing down.

One of the obvious examples is Terri Schiavo. The GOP made a big deal about the "culture of life" and denounced the fact that she did not get her "due process" in spite of seeing more court time and filings than even the most desperate death-row inmate. We saw some really humorous antics like how Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, MD (R-TN), a heart surgeon, making a neurological "diagnosis" of Schiavo via heavily edited videotapes provided by a biased source (Schiavo’s parents). We saw George W. Bush stand up against removing Schiavo’s feeding tube when at the same time a Texas hospital removed the life support of a child against the wishes of his mother using authority Bush had granted them under a law he passed as that state’s governor.

We have "religious leaders" like Pat Robertson making outlandish statements like how the US should assassinate the elected president of Venezuela and how Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon suffered a stroke because God was punishing him. The White House and GOP condemned those statements because it was politically advantageous for them to do so at the time but as the election draws closer and control of Congress is at stake we will probably see more and more GOP attempts to woo the American Taliban in order to get their votes and secure they corrupt dynasty.

We see it in these amendments to "protect marriage" from a supposed threat which everyone with an ounce of rationality and common sense knows is just a cover to codify discrimination semi-permanently, in open defiance of the principals upon which this nation was founded, while nations who are not as well off as we are jump ahead of us by leaps and bounds in terms of true equality.

The Ohio Republican Chairman called on Hackett to apologize and for the Ohio Democratic Chairman to condemn the remarks. The Dems’ response was priceless:

"If Bob Bennett needs an apology, he should apologize for Tom DeLay, Bob Ney, Bob Taft and Tom Noe. This is nothing more than a smokescreen from the corruption that surrounds him."
