Conservative Initiative Salesman Wants Vote on If People Can Discriminate Against Gays

Posted on | January 30, 2006

Conservative activists in Washington State show us that it really is all about hatred when it comes to gay people. They hide behind tired platitudes like "morality" and "religious freedom" as if they knew what those concepts actually mean. Because if they did, one would think the two places in the bible where it states ‘the golden rule’ of "do unto others as you would have them to unto you" would have sunk in. If anyone needs a refresher, I have provided the quotes provided by ReligiousTolerance.Org:

"Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets." - Matthew 7:12 (KJV)

"And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise." - Luke 6:31 (KJV)

The other english language bibles have different wordings but all say the same thing. I just use KJV because it is often the most recognized.

Anyway, an ethically challenged "ballot initiative salesman" named Tim Eyeman has said he will file a ballot initiative to put the recently passed bill which makes it illegal to discriminate against homosexuals in housing, lending, and employment. That is correct folks, this man wants the ability to deny people housing, loans, and employment based solely on the fact that they are gay.

One thing always puzzles me about conservatives who use that uncreative excuse of "religious beliefs" is that they hold on to the falsehood that being gay is a choice. So if it is ok for them to discriminate against me for supposedly choosing to be gay, why is it illegal for me to discriminate against them because of their choice of religion?
