Christian Conservatives Are Like Muslim Fascists In Spite of Denials

Posted on | February 20, 2006

In a column entitled ‘Comparing Islamic Fascists to Christian Conservatives’ on Agape Press, Rev. Mark H. Creech decided to use the whole Islam cartoon temper tantrum to list a litany of times when Christianity was mocked in the same way and Christians did not have a fit so Christian conservatives are nothing like Islamic fascists. Naturally the Rev there missed the point completely as to why the comparison is made by people, and I include myself in that, in the first place. Yes, Christians in general do take artistic expressions about their religion that they might not agree with in a more appropriate and rational way than their Muslim counterparts. But are there not other aspects to compare as well? Obviously there are and I would actually argue that Creech’s use of the artwork criticism is just a red herring to deflect real criticism.

While I cannot speak for the other people who make the comparison, when I say that US religious conservatives are just like Muslim fascists like the Taliban and Osama bin Laden’s posse, I am not talking about some petty little tit-for-tat score card. What I am talking about is motive and other things like that. Muslim terrorists believe that every nation on earth should be modeled under Sharia, or Muslim law, whether they are Muslim or not and things that are supposedly immoral are to be eliminated. Not surprisingly Christian conservatives believe the same thing pretty much. If it is not condoned in the bible, then nobody should do it regardless of whether they believe it to be wrong or not. The only difference is Muslim fascists use force by way of violence and Conservative Christians use force by way of the legal system. But make no mistake both camps are all about forcing others to adhere to their vision. Terrorists do it with bombs while Conservative Christians do it with bills.

The gay marriage fight is a great example of this. The state Supreme Court in Massachusetts said that there was no compelling reason for that state to ban same-sex marriage which is the truth in spite of what anyone says. And then look what happened afterwards. So-called Christian groups were up in arms over this issue. We saw laws introduced that are nothing less than hatred. We saw eleven state amendments pass in which my state was one of them. And all of this simply to deny rights and happiness to individuals wired to love people with the same genitalia as themselves.

Abortion and birth control are two other issues that illustrate my point as well. The best way Christians can be "moral" in the abortion war is to simply not have one. In Abortion we have even seen Conservative Christians user the tactics of the Muslims they claim they are nothing like. Bombing clinics, assassinating doctors, harassing patients and the list goes on. Same goes with birth control. If you do not approve of its use, then do not use it. Birth control, in spite of the name, is not always prescribed for birth control. A female acquaintance of mine told me that it is often prescribed to also help women with odd menstruation cycles regulate them better. But I guess that goes against "the word of God" in some people’s twisted worlds.

Even more inane than basing his argument solely on response to depictions of their respective religions, Creech degenerates his arguments by invoking the name of Randal Terry as a so-called expert on Islam. Terry, founder of Operation Rescue and Terry Schaivo press-whore, is about as much of an unbiased expert on Islam as the Klu Klux Klan are unbiased experts on black people. Cite a real source next time Rev.

Conservative Christians would be better off just admitting that the comparison is apt in ways and instead of simply denying this fact with an antithesis filled with what amounts to bullshitting. Maybe if they stopped trying to fuck with the lives of everyone else they would not be compared to Muslim fascists. Just a thought.
