Paratrooper Reaches Plea Agreement with Military in Gay Porn Scandal
Posted on | April 21, 2006
In an update to the US Army gay porn "scandal" within the fame 82nd Airborne, one of the accused has reached a plea agreement with military prosecutors. While details of the agreement are still undisclosed, Spc. Richard T. Ashley will appear before a judge on April 28th to plead guilty on charges relating to his appearance in pornography films produced by ActiveDuty.Com.
The scandal broke in late January when the US Army began an official investigation into seven soldiers, including Ashley, who were accused of performing in military-themed pornography. The soldiers in question were isolated for their protection. Spc. Richard T. Ashley, Pfc. Wesley K. Mitten, and Pvt. Kagen B. Mullen were arraigned in early March. Ashley’s codefendants, Pfc. Wesley K. Mitten and Pvt. Kagen B. Mullen, are still scheduled to go on trial in May on the same charges. It is not yet known if either of them are pursuing plea bargains as well. The other four soldiers were subjected to "nonjudicial penalties" and commanders have recommended all seven be discharged.
