Jail for Paratrooper in Gay Porn Scandal
Posted on | April 28, 2006
After pleading guilty to charges stemming from his appearances in gay pornography, Pfc. Richard T. Ashley has been sentenced to ninety days in a military prison. Ashley will only have to serve seventy-five of the ninety-day sentence as he was credited for time served prior to his trial. After that he will be demoted and then discharged under the "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" rules which bar military personnel who are openly homosexual from serving.
Ashley, along with Pfc. Wesley K. Mitten and Pvt. Kagen B. Mullen, were arraigned in March for their appearances in pornography for the site ActiveDuty.Com which is located in Fayetteville, North Carolina, which is the town adjacent to Fort Bragg where the soldiers, all part of the US Army’s 82nd Airborne division, were stationed. Mitten and Mullen are still awaiting their trials. All three soldiers were arraigned on the same charges. Mullen faces an additional charge of adultery. It is not known if they are seeking plea agreements at this time.
In all the US Army netted seven soldiers in its investigation of the ActiveDuty.Com performances. Four others, whose names have not been released, received non-judicial punishment for their roles. They forfeited a month’s pay total, assigned extra duties, restricted to Fort Bragg for forty-five days and had their ranks reduced to Private. The US Army will also be discharged under "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell" as well.
