Second Soldier in 82nd Airborne Pleads Guilty in Gay Internet Porn Case
Posted on | May 1, 2006

Pvt. Kagen B. Mullen has become the second soldier in the US Army’s 82nd Airborne to plead guilty to charges stemming from his appearance on the military-themed gay pornography site ActiveDuty.Com. Mullen, along with Pfc. Richard T. Ashley and Pfc. Wesley K. Mitten faced charges of sodomy, pandering, and engaging in sexual acts for money. Mullen, who has been serving in the US Army since 2004, also faced an additional charge of adultery as he is currently married with a child but is now in the process of divorcing his wife. In exchange for pleading guilty to the charges of performing sexual acts for money, military prosecutors dropped the other charges.
Mullen was sentenced to a ninety-day prison term and will be discharged at the end of his sentence.
Last week, Pfc. Richard T. Ashley reached a plea agreement with military prosecutors and, like Mullen, was sentenced to a ninety-day jail term with credit for fifteen days already served prior to the plea.
The third soldier charged, Pfc. Wesley K. Mitten is yet to be tried and there is no word yet on if his defense is seeking a plea agreement. Four others, whose names have not been released by the Military received "non-judicial" punishments including forfeiting a month’s pay total, assigned extra duties, restricted to Fort Bragg for forty-five days and rank reduction to Private. The US Army has recommended that they be discharged as well under "Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell".

This really pisses me off. There is a war going on in which thousands have already died and the military is wasting time, money and resources to go on witch hunts. So the guys did porn…big damn deal. If didn’t affect their abilities to do their jobs, what’s the problem? If this had to do with straight porn, the issue would’ve never been brought up and the guys involved would’ve gotten a whole bunch of praise from their buddies. But since this is gay porn they decide to make a big deal out of it probably because the thought of guys together makes them feel weird or jealous or whatever. Funny, since there are a lot of gays in the military…and a lot of guys who are in denial.
